My name is Mishay, I’m from Seattle, WA, and I’m just trying to keep what I have left, which is my apartment. <strong>My mother and eleven-year-old daughter were murdered by my youngest brother on June 15</strong>, leaving my mental health in a state where I’m unable to work currently. <strong>I’m asking for help for the next three months' worth of rent, this is where the funds will be used as I am behind for the month of October and for the month of November to get ahead of the curve I face</strong>, to hopefully alleviate the pressures and hassles of healing and my world still going while doing so. Yes, I’ve applied for assistance programs; however, I’m in an area that offers little to none, and the ones I have tried I have been denied for. Yes, I’ve applied for victims' compensation, and the victims' compensation program I’m currently awaiting can take up to several months because it didn’t happen here in Seattle; the crime happened in St. Louis, and their policies and procedures are a bit different. In being overwhelmed, here is a post. Anything helps, and thank you for reading.

<div>We vowed this would never happen again, so families of the deceased from the Columbine, VaTech, Northern Illinois University, the Aurora theater shooting, the Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting, and Newtown (Sandy Hook) joined together to help establish the National Compassion Fund with the National Center of Victims of Crime. Since then, families from across the nation from other mass shootings including Tucson, Vegas, Alturas, Santa Barbara (Isla Vista), Roseburg, and Orlando Pulse, Boulder and others have endorsed the National Compassion Fund.

<div>The National Compassion Fund has so far distributed funds directly to survivors of 19 mass casualty crimes, including the Kroger grocery store shooting in Collierville, TN; the Oxford, MI high school shooting, the FedEx facility shooting in Indianapolis, the Spa Shootings in Atlanta, the Stop and Shop shooting in West Hempstead, NY, the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando; the Las Vegas Harvest Festival Shooting; the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, FL; the Walmart shooting in El Paso, TX and many more.

Buffalo Mass Shooting Help The Families Fund

<p>We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/essay/the-wall-the-real-costs-of-a-barrier-between-the-united-states-and-mexico/">Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved.</a>  Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values. 
</p>

<p>And even though at a rate of $1.7 million daily, it would take their fund about 35 years to raise the <a href="https://www.politifact.com/california/statements/2017/apr/28/scott-peters/would-trumps-border-wall-cost-same-one-and-half-us/">$21.7 billion that Trump's own Dept. of Homeland Security says would be needed</a>  to build said wall, we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them.
</p>

<p>If this seems ludicrous, we welcome you to the coalition of reasonable adults.

<p>Should we not reach our goal--or should they (ahem) not reach theirs--all funds raised will go to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services <a href="https://www.raicestexas.org/about/">(RAICES)</a> , a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.

Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall

Jamal Woods Hall, a beloved 24 year old son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and father is from Seattle, Washington. On a night out bowling and hanging out with friends, Jamal was shot multiple times while sitting in the back seat of a car. Jamal was pronounced dead at the hospital. But by the grace and mercy of God, Jamal has been fighting for his life and showing miraculous improvement every day. The hold that death had on him has weakened and continues to grow weaker every day through prayer, faith, unconditional love and positivity shown by his parents, sisters, brother, grandparents, the sound of his daughter’s voice, family members and friends who are by his side daily have assisted in Jamal making small but very noticeable improvements every day since this senseless ordeal happened. <br />The family will have to take on a large amount of hospital bills as Jamal travels down the long road of recovery.
