This past Sunday, my two best friends, Cano and Nina, experienced an apartment fire that destroyed their home. In a matter of minutes, they lost nearly everything they owned.

The fire displaced them from their apartment, and they are currently staying with family while they work through the next steps and begin rebuilding their lives.

During the fire, Cano suffered second and third degree burns to his hand, arm, and legs. Because of these injuries, he will be temporarily out of work while he focuses on recovery and treatment.

I have known Cano and Nina for over a decade, and they are two of the most genuine and hardworking people I know. Anyone who knows them knows that both Cano and Nina are the type of people who would do anything to help someone in need. They are always the first to show up for others, which makes it even harder to see them going through something like this.

Along with recovering from his injuries, they are now facing the difficult task of replacing essential belongings and getting back on their feet after losing their home.

I created this fundraiser to help support them during this time. Donations will help with:

• Medical expenses related to Cano’s burn injuries

• Temporary living expenses while they recover

• Clothing and everyday necessities

• Replacing essential household items lost in the fire
