“if I could open the car door (aka, get the car running) I could open so many other doors in life.”
Help my friend Cam get on his feet! I met Cam a couple of months back when he was helping his friend's dog. Cam is unhoused, living in his car which is non-operable. He’s never asked for money, and when asked what he needs, he’s gladly accepted food and help for his friend's dog (Oso ).
Over the past couple of months, I’ve gotten to know the beautiful human Cam is; and at only 24 years, he’s spent the last handful of years of his young life unhoused, living in his car. I won’t share all of Cam’s business, but will share one snippet. On a rough day (he had just been robbed), I commented he’d had a rough day, to which he responded, “I’ve had a rough start. Period.”
He has looked for shelters but there are limited openings in his area (South LA). His work interests include cooking and security. He holds a per diem job at SoFi that helps, but not enough for rent or to fix his car. He was hesitant to accept this help, and to paraphrase, he says, “times are rough for everyone and the last thing I want to do is strain someone else.” Ironically, Cam is the type of person to give the shirt off his back.
His car has a leak which then leaks down the “cam shaft” and ruins the battery. The police are threatening to tow his car (aka his home) and I would love nothing more than to help him get his car working. He’s shared how this would open more work opportunities as well. Please consider sharing, even a small amount, to help out Cam ❤️
