My name is Caitlin. I’m a 26-year-old mother to two young children, ages 1 and 2.
In October 2025, we made the difficult decision to leave a domestic violence situation and have been living in a domestic violence shelter. On March 7, 2026, my children’s father assaulted me and attempted to take my life in front of our children. I was able to escape and call the police. He is now incarcerated and awaiting trial. He is being charged with 1) assault- domestic violence in the presence of a child & 2) attempted strangulation in the presence of a child. There’s a criminal no contact order as well as a civil protection order in place for my children and I.
Since January, I’ve been working hard to rebuild our lives after being a stay-at-home mom. I am also in the process of filing for divorce, and there is currently no child support in place. My focus right now is creating a safe, stable, and peaceful home for my children—they deserve that after everything they’ve been through.
We have been approved for an apartment, and I was able to pay the security deposit. However, we must leave the shelter by April 2nd, and we are starting completely from scratch.
In addition to basic household needs, I am also asking for help covering our first month’s rent and getting established financially as we transition into stable housing.
