The Coalition to Abolish Death by Incarceration (CADBI) and our movement family have been working for years to end life without parole/death by incarceration (DBI) sentences in Pennsylvania. We believe that denying people the right to transformation and redemption is an affront to everyone’s humanity, and we know that being separated from loved ones has a devastating effect on people inside and outside of prison. As we keep fighting for more pathways to freedom, it’s more important than ever to keep pushing and bringing more people into our movement.
To do that, CADBI and our partner groups are joining forces this September for a week-long caravan across Pennsylvania. People from CADBI and partners in Let’s Get Free, Human Rights Coalition, Abolitionist Law Center, and other groups will be traveling around the state putting on daily events. From Pittsburgh and Philly to State College and Scranton, we’ll be bringing people together, raising awareness and energy for abolishing DBI, and drumming up support for current legislation. It takes a lot to put on a caravan! Your financial support will go towards expenses such as:
- Venue rentals and other costs associated with putting on the events
- Food and lodging for the mighty group of people making this week-long journey and putting on the events
- Gas money for our travels
- Envelopes, stamps, and printed fliers for mass outreach to incarcerated people, so they can invite their loved ones to join us
