Help Build Peckman Park Trail for All
Donation protected
My Eagle Scout project is focused on creating a rustic trail that will connect three distinct areas: an unofficial path made by local residents, a former truck route used during construction of a nearby water treatment facility, and newly cleared sections where my team and I will rake and remove debris to form a walkable trail. Once the trail is cleared, we’ll border it with logs collected from fallen trees in the area, securing them by indenting the dirt beneath each log to keep them in place. The finished trail will run through a vacant wooded area between a residential neighborhood and a light industrial zone, right alongside the Peckman River.
To make the trail more welcoming, we’ll build two cedar benches—one at the start and one at the end of the path. We plan to pour concrete under the supports to keep the benches secure and prevent them from being washed away or stolen. At the entrance, I’ll install a wooden sign that reads “Peckman Park” and includes a plaque for my Eagle Scout project. The trail will be open to everyone, inviting neighbors and visitors to enjoy nature and the outdoors. My inspiration for this project comes from a shared love for nature and a desire to preserve it for future generations.
The funds raised will help us purchase cedar lumber, concrete, wood sealant, screws, and other materials needed for construction. We’ll also need power drills and other tools to complete the work. Your support will help us overcome the challenges of building a safe, lasting trail and benches, and ensure that Peckman Park Trail becomes a place for everyone to enjoy.
