Help Build Henderson’s First Free Indoor Skatepark

Donation protected
Cure Skateshop is building Henderson’s first free, indoor skatepark! The property is selected, and now we need the help of our local community.

Why We Need This
Our aim has always been to provide a safe and nurturing environment for kids, teens, and adults to engage in healthy physical activity and self-expression. An indoor skatepark will further our mission to provide such a resource to the community.
As we all know, our local outdoor skateparks are far from perfect - they weren’t built with much input, if any, from actual skaters, and the lifespan of Atkinson’s pre-fab metal ramps is rapidly approaching its last days. Additionally, our local climate renders these outdoor parks virtually useless for at least 3-4 months out of each year, due to cold and/or inclement weather. During the winter months, many kids get discouraged with the dwindling accessibility to adequate resources and give up on skateboarding altogether, or lose much of the progression they’ve made throughout the rest of the year.
We believe a privately managed and maintained indoor park, that is free and open to the public, is a vital, long term asset to our local skate community, and our local youth, as a whole.

How This Money Will Be Used
Lumber isn’t cheap, and we need a lot of it in order to build out the park. Your contribution will go directly toward the purchase of materials needed to build the initial ramps/obstacles of this indoor skatepark. Any excess donations will be saved for future maintenance costs associated with the skatepark itself.

How Cure Skateshop Is Contributing
As a retail shop, we will be donating a percentage of our sales, year-round, to routine maintenance, insurance, utilities, administration, marketing, and staffing of the facilities. Additionally, all initial and ongoing construction will be done (or supervised and coordinated) by Cure’s staff and skate team.

What Will the Skatepark Look Like?
Our plan for this indoor skatepark is to appeal equally to beginners and advanced skateboarders. The park will be constructed entirely of wood, and will have a good mix of mellow transition (ramps) and street obstacles, which flow together seamlessly. The “heart” of the park will be a 24’ wide half pipe with a bowl section at one end. Everything in the park will be constructed, maintained, and displayed with the utmost concern for the safety of all participants. Protective gear will be available for purchase or rental, and will always be highly encouraged. ALL participants will be required to have a liability waiver on file at all times. Any participants under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian to fill out and sign their waiver.
