We are a multi-disciplinary team of design and the built environment students studying at Curtin university. In June 2019, we will be travelling to Mongolia for 6 weeks to take part in a project to build basic facilities for the students in the local community of Batsumber. Mongolia is a developing country and these small local communities are in need of good quality and accessible basic facilities. Batsumber is a small rural town of 7,000 residents consisting of the elderly, and many young students, while requiring the improvement of the existing facilities.
Our aim is to gain an understanding of the culture and reinforce the relationship between development and cultural heritage in an area facing the ever-growing challenge of rapid urbanisation. While in Mongolia, we will work collaboratively and inter-professionally with the Local Government of Batsumber the local community to develop and integrate public open space to make a positive impact on their community, and over-all health and well-being. However, to do so, we require the funding to purchase the materials and resources to build for the community.
All money raised will STRICTLY go towards the community we are working with and on the materials required to develop urban parks for the community and not funding our travel expenses while in Mongolia. Also, all donations will have an everlasting impact in the Batsumber area.
