Help Us Build the Future of Aztalan’s Past!
We are $20,000 away from turning a decade of dreams into a groundbreaking reality.
Imagine standing on the edge of the ancient Mississippian mounds at Aztalan, looking out over a landscape that flourished nearly a millennium ago. Today, Aztalan State Park is recognized as a globally significant National Historic Landmark—the crown jewel of Wisconsin archaeology—drawing visitors from every corner of the world to witness one of the most important cultural sites in the Midwest.
Yet, for decades, the monumental story of this incredible civilization has been told from within the confines of a small, temporary trailer. While our volunteers have worked with tireless dedication to keep the history alive, this sacred ground deserves a home that matches its international importance.
For over ten years, the Friends of Aztalan State Park have been committed to a single, transformative vision: bringing a permanent Visitors Center to life. We have done the hard work of planning, designing, and securing the necessary approvals to create a welcoming hub where history finally comes alive. This center will be more than just a building; it will be a place of discovery featuring a permanent, engaging exhibit, a staffed welcome center and store, and a dedicated gathering space for educational programs and group tours—all equipped with the modern, accessible facilities our global visitors need.
We are now standing on the threshold of history. With a total project cost of $450,000, we have already secured an incredible $430,000. We are just $20,000 away from the finish line.
This is the most critical moment in our mission. Your support today provides the final, vital funds to move us from decades of planning into the groundbreaking phase this Fall of 2026.
We are so close to building Aztalan’s future. Please join us in this final push to honor the past and inspire the generations to come.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will be the legacy that finally opens the doors to Aztalan’s story.
