Help Build an Inclusive Gym for People of Determination
Donation protected
I’m Darren Awolesi – but most people know me as AWOL Motivation (A Way of Life).
Over a decade ago, I survived a tragic shooting that left me with a spinal cord injury (L1 T12), paralysed from the waist down. I was told I would never walk again. But through sheer determination and relentless effort, I rehabilitated myself and regained the ability to walk – even without feeling in my legs.
For the past 10 years, fitness has been my anchor, empowering me to rebuild my life and face each day head-on. I believe movement is medicine, and I want others to experience the transformative power of fitness, no matter their circumstances.
This year, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise awareness that disability and injury do not define us. We are not disabled – we are people of determination.
I’ve recently founded Awol Motivation CIC, and my next goal is to open a specialised gym for People of Determination
– a space where those living with disabilities, life-changing injuries, or illnesses can train, grow, and thrive.
I need your help to make this vision a reality. Together, we can create a community where no one feels limited by their circumstances.
Thank you for your support – let’s change lives, one rep at a time.
