That in the heart of Canada, a young Black girl could walk into a gallery and see herself her beauty, her brilliance, her history reflected in every brushstroke. That a grandfather could speak his truth in a hall built to honor his voice. That a young man, searching for his purpose, could find strength, clarity, and pride in his heritage.

That space doesn’t exist today. But with your help, we will build it.

We are creating the African Heritage Centre (AHC) Canada’s first, permanent, Black-led cultural institution, dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and elevating the voices and contributions of people of African and Caribbean descent.

This isn’t just a building. It’s a movement, A promise fulfilled, It's our legacy.

Why the African Heritage Centre Matters

Despite centuries of contribution, Black Canadians remain largely invisible in the cultural and historical fabric of the country. The absence of a dedicated African heritage centre isn’t just an oversight, it’s an act of erasure.

The African Heritage Centre is our answer to that silence.

It will be a place where:

Elders’ voices are preserved, archived, and honored

Children see themselves in history and believe in their future

Art, entrepreneurship, excellence, and identity shape the Canadian narrative

Without a central home, our history is fragmented. The African Heritage Centre will unite us across generations, across languages, across the diaspora. The AHC will unify our past, present, and future. It will be a home that reflects who we are and who we can become.
