Let's Build a Wheelchair Ramp for Biz Dana!

Tax deductible
We’re still accepting donations to help cover additional ongoing expenses related to Biz’s illness and mobility challenges. Your generosity means so much—thank you!

Our community knows Biz Dana for her can-do spirit and her wicked sense of humor.

What some may not know is that about six months ago, Biz was diagnosed with ALS. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive disease that damages the nerve cells controlling voluntary muscles, leading to increasing weakness, paralysis, and loss of independence.

Today, Biz relies on a wheelchair to get around. Whether it’s going to a doctor’s appointment or her recent BUHS high school reunion, leaving her home has become a tremendous challenge. The steps from her front porch are now a barrier to the outside world.

For decades, Biz has worked and volunteered to make life better for others in our community. Now it’s our turn to give back by helping fund a wheelchair ramp for the front of her home.

This project is being coordinated by Brattleboro Area Affordable Housing (BAAH), an all-volunteer nonprofit that helps improve and maintain housing for those in need. BAAH will order a custom aluminum ramp, and their dedicated volunteers will install it at Biz’s home.

Our goal is to get the ramp installed before the ground freezes.

Biz grew-up in Brattleboro, Vermont and has many friends in the area. While she can no longer work due to her illness, she has contributed so much to our community through her employment over the years with Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Oak Meadow Learning, Brattleboro Retreat, WSESU School District, the Town Crier, and the Steak Out Restaurant. She is also beloved for her bighearted volunteer work with numerous non-profits, including serving on the Board of Directors of Morningside Homeless Shelter and the Living Memorial Park Snow Sports program.

Please consider supporting this project by making a donation and sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and networks. All donations are tax-deductible.

Thank you for supporting this project and for making a real difference in Biz’s life.
