We need *you* to help build a strong sangha for the benefit of all beings!
My name is Kayla McAfee, and I am on the Board of Directors of Dassanāya Buddhist Community. Welcome.
Dassanāya Buddhist Community is in its formative stages, emerging as contemporary support for an awakening life. Our community is built on the aspiration of our guiding teacher, Ayya Dhammadīpā who is a fully ordained bhikkhuni and a Dharma transmitted teacher in the Soto Zen tradition. Her aspiration is to share the teachings of early Buddhism, the Theravada, and Soto Zen. Our mission is bold - offer spiritual care based in meditation and ethics to cultivate and embody the presence of Buddhist wisdom in the world. And we need your help to do this important work.
Our goal is to establish a vihara in Alexandria, Virginia with the support of a global community.
The vihara will serve as a place where folks can practice together in person, and a place from which Ayya can continue to offer her teachings online. Your contributions to this fundraiser will be used to cover the costs of establishing a vihara - lodging and furniture, food and medicine, technology and travel. By giving, you are making it possible for you, Ayya, and many more people to benefit from Buddhist teachings. Together, we are building a strong sangha with open doors to anyone who aspires to wisdom and compassion.
Our guiding teacher, Ayya Dhammadipa brings broad experience to the Dassanāya Buddhist Community, including 14 years of monastic training, publication in the BuddhistDoor Global, "Lion's Roar" and "Buddhadharma," as well as experience as an inter-faith hospice chaplain. She offers her more than three decades of practice, and she collaborates with the many folks who have been practicing together with her at locations around the world - Mexico, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, the USA, Thailand, India, Australia, and more. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Buddhist Global Relief.
Let’s build a strong sangha together! Please make a one-time or monthly contribution to the Dassanāya Buddhist Community, so that we can offer the compassionate teachings of Buddhism in Alexandria and around the world. We simply cannot accomplish this without your donations.
Anumodana! We celebrate your generosity and the wisdom of giving.
We are currently formed as a tax exempt organization, and we are also seeking IRS recognition of 501(c)(3). All funds raised here will go to DBC.
