Hi, I am Robin McBurney and I would like to introduce my gardener, Lauro Flores, and his family Lauro Javier, Emma Noemi, and baby Anthony Rafael. Lauro has been my part-time gardener in Guatemala for three years. He is a fantastic gardener and works very hard at his occupation. But being a gardener in Guatemala means you are following your passion for your love of plants, but it is not a money maker. In fact, it is probably one of the lowest paying jobs in the country.

Last summer, Lauro sent me a video of his baby walking, and I noticed he had dirt floors in his house. I spoke to Lauro about his living situation and found out that he had saved up money from his part-time job working for me to build two rooms onto his father's house. Each room measures about 10 feet by 10 feet. There are no windows, and there is a metal lamina roof. He had no floor, no doors, and no bathroom. I recently gave him money for tile floors, but I would like to raise money for a bathroom and three doors, one for the bathroom, and one for each room . With the money that is remaining, I would like to build him a little kitchen area which includes a sink, a counter, shelves, and a cupboard.
