Help Budi’s Family make their dreams come true

Today I had the privilege of meeting Budi, a Grab driver whose story touched me deeply. He and his wife are among the most hard-working, humble, and kind-hearted people I’ve met. They often leave their three children behind for half a year or more, just to work and give their kids the opportunities they themselves never had.

Due to a unexpected long visa process, Budi & his wife couldn’t take their usual overseas job this year and now they simply don’t have the money to support this next step for their kids.

Their oldest son, Ian (I Puta Ian Erlangga), just graduated, a moment he had long dreamed of sharing with his parents. And as fate would have it, due to a delayed visa process, Budi and his wife were actually able to be there. A silver lining in the midst of a difficult situation. ✨

And now, the story continues:

Budi’s two younger sons, Dede and Satria, (I kadek Dede Syalendra & I komang Satria Dharmawangsa) recently took part in the English Olympics, a national-level competition where only the best move forward. They competed in the Bali round — and they passed!

They now have the opportunity to be participate in the national finals, held in Malang on July 26–27. But to participate, they must confirm by June 30.

The challenge?
 All costs: flights, accommodation, meals etc. are to be covered by the participants. Also the parents have to come with, which means no income for a couple of days. And after missing out on his job abroad this year due to the visa delay, Budi simply can’t afford this right now.

But he’s not giving up. He told them: “I don’t have the finances at the moment, but keep studying hard. I’m working on it. I will find a way.”

Still, their spirit remains strong. This family has big dreams, huge hearts, and unshakable belief in the power of education, hard work and in doing good.

And now it’s our chance to lift them up.

Let’s help Budi’s sons get to Malang. Let’s help them shine. Let’s invest in the future they’re building with so much courage, love, and hope.
