i’m starting a GoFundMe for my dear friend Budi, who has cared for my kids with so much love during our trips to Bali. Her partner was recently in a serious motorcycle accident and suffered a fractured femur. He spent six hours in surgery, and because there is no universal healthcare in Indonesia, all of the medical costs must be paid out of pocket. He is also unable to work during his recovery, which has put even more pressure on the family.

I know this is a busy and expensive time of year, and there is absolutely no expectation or obligation to donate. But if you were already considering giving to a charity this Christmas, or if you have the capacity to help in any small way, it would mean the world to Budi and her family.

The first photo you’ll see is of their two daughters. They were born as twins and required ICU care as newborns. Tragically, the family had to make the heartbreaking decision to bring them home early because they could no longer afford their time in ICU. It reminded me how incredibly fortunate we are to have accessible healthcare here, and how difficult medical emergencies can be for families in Indonesia.

Any contribution—big or small—would be received with immense gratitude. And even if you can’t donate, simply sharing their story helps more than you know.
