This is Letty Jo (aka) "Brooklyn." Brooklyn was born almost 5 months ago under incredibly difficult circumstances. Her mother struggled with addiction during pregnancy, and as a result, Brooklyn entered this world with several severe medical challenges. She was born with only one kidney, clubbed feet and hands, a heart condition, and a recessed lower jaw that made it nearly impossible for her to breathe on her own. Immediately after birth, she had to be rushed to the NICU for urgent care at Riley Children’s Hospital, hooked up to machines and devices to help her stay alive. She has been diagnosed with Fetal Fentanyl Syndrome and now she has a virus and pneumonia, fighting for her life.
Now, doctors want to put a hole in her neck after she had her first surgery to bring her lower jaw forward so her tongue wouldn’t block her airway. But, this surgery only lasted about 5 weeks, and now we’re back in the PICU.
Our sweet Brooklyn has a long journey ahead. There will be more surgeries, therapies, and constant 24-hour care. But we believe that God has a purpose for her life. We believe that in Jesus’ name, she will grow up strong, healthy, and full of life — just like any other child.
We’re writing today asking for assistance in helping us financially keep going as we care for our granddaughter in this difficult time of need. Please help us with any amount you may be able to give because of her future medical bills, surgeries, and as her grandparents, we want to be the ones to be there for her, so she knows that she is so loved.
Thank you,
Afshin and Sherry
