Help Brittany & Kyle Fulfill Their Dream

My best friend Brittany and her fiancé Kyle have been trying to have a baby for the past 3 years.

In 2020 Brittany was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary symptoms (PCOS). PCOS causes hormonal imbalances, irregular periods, excess androgen levels and cysts in the ovaries. Irregular periods, usually with a lack of ovulation, can make it difficult to become pregnant.

PCOS is a leading cause of infertility.

Since May 2021 Brittany has experienced six miscarriages. This many losses in such a short span of time occur in less than 1% of women. Kyle and Brittany have been working with a fertility specialist since January 2022.

In 2023 their doctor discovered a C-section scar defect from Brittanys previous c section

The medical term is an isthmocele. It is a pouch, or niche, of tissue that forms on the wall of your uterus. It's the result of a c-section incision that didn't heal completely. Isthmoceles can lead to abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain and menstruation problems. It can also cause infertility or problems with future pregnancies.

This was possibly the reason for Brittanys miscarriages. In September 2023 Brittany had surgery to repair the defect

Unfortunately, Brittany experienced an ectopic pregnancy after the surgery.

At this point in Brittany and Kyle’s fertility journey they have been advised that the best chance they will have at a viable pregnancy is through IVF. Unfortunately, Alberta and Saskatchewan are the only provinces in Canada that do not offer IVF coverage.

As a result Brittany has explored options and has found a clinic in New York that provides the most affordable rates. The cost will come to a total of $5000, and she will need approximately $2000 for travel related costs.

Due to the severity of Brittanys PCOS, her doctors have advised her that she needs to have a full hysterectomy within the next four years. This creates a sense of urgency because

Brittany and Kyle’s deepest wish is to have a child together and complete their family.
