Help Brittany Buy a House for All the Kids

I’m about to have a couple more kids ... and so I am asking for help with a down payment to buy our first home!

 

For those unfamiliar with the tale, I'll attempt to summarize:

 

Several of my young nieces and nephews found themselves without a home last year, and I was asked by the State of Arizona to help them. I've been doing so as best I can while getting to know the kids. Now, there are only two of the initial six who still need a home, and we are very excited to welcome them here to New Hampshire!

 

Unfortunately, my current apartment is too small for all of us and I have very little savings (I'm a long time, happy renter). I've been rental hunting but it is a tough, unique market here in our beautiful small lake town. So now I'm following the advice I have been given and am working toward pre-approval so that I can buy a home of our own. 

 

I'm asking for help from my community to raise a down payment for that forever home.

 

. . . and here's the longer version:

 

Soon I'll be adopting two of my nieces, Hayden and Erianne, from Arizona. Fifteen & thirteen years old, respectively. We only met this year, but already we have so much love between us.

 

I found out about them, and their four siblings, when I received a certified letter in the mail from the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) one year ago informing me that all six siblings had been displaced from their homes.

 

The letter asked me to help, either by finding them homes, becoming their home, or supporting the kids in a loving way.

 

One of the first things I did was reach out to YOU! My community. I asked for help getting holiday gifts together for the kids, and you showed up with absolute gusto. Thank you for that.

 

Since then, I’ve gone down for visits, twice renting a house for all six kids so we can get to know each other. It’s been magical

 

Good news! Four of the kids have permanent homes already, and we even have a little motley crew of “mamas” looking out for each other and everyone. Mamas, I love you. Thank you.

 

So now there are only two without permanent homes. And it’s time. They want to come here and live with me and Jasper, and we want them to be here! There is an open case with New Hampshire DCS evaluating my ability to care for all these kids, and I just got off a court call wherein the judge agreed it was time for them to move on from their situation.

 

I’m not here to tell their story. They can do that however they’d like.

 

But I am here to tell mine.

 

And here it is: I want these girls and I’m ready. But I need a bigger home. Me and Jasper (6 years old) love love LOVE our tiny little fairy house sanctuary. It’s served us well. But it isn’t big enough for two teenage girls and the two of us.

 

We have been hunting for a bigger rental for a long time now and finding it SCARCE. So I have moved forward with applying for a pre-approval from a local lender and will start searching for a home to BUY for us soon. Having rented for a long time . . . and traveled a bit . . . I don't have any savings.

 

So here I am humbly requesting a miracle. You know I believe in three impossible things before breakfast. It’s who I am.

 

At first, I asked for help finding the right home. We've been getting a lot of leads! Thanks! But our support network (that's y'all), said you want to do more. You told me to set up a Go Fund Me to raise money to buy our own house. So, so sweet of you.

 

Will you donate some cash to help fund a down payment? Will you share this with other people who might have extra cash to donate?

 

Is it a long shot? Yeah. Am I absolutely crazy for asking? Definitely. But am I hopeful? You bet I am.
