Help Bring Zhewen Home: Bond Support Fund
Hi friends,
We’re reaching out to ask for your help in bringing our dear friend, Zhewen, home.
Zhewen is a kind, brilliant, and deeply faithful young man who came to the U.S. on a student visa to pursue his education. Like many international students, he faced incredible challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic—challenges that ultimately led to his visa expiring. Without resources, support, or guidance, Zhewen quietly slipped through the cracks.
But his story didn’t end there.
My wife and I met Zhewen in November 2024, just before Thanksgiving. He had recently been evicted and was facing homelessness. We opened our home to him—and in the time since, he has become like family. He’s a quiet, gentle soul who spends most of his time reading or lending a hand around the house. We were honored to walk with him as grew in his faith in Jesus and became part of our church family and community group.
Earlier this year, Zhewen made the courageous decision to turn himself in to immigration authorities, trusting God and the legal process, despite not knowing what the outcome would be. Now, we are thrilled to share that he has been granted bond—which means he can finally come home while he waits for the next step in his legal process.
But bond comes at a high cost: $6000.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help raise the necessary funds to post bond and bring Zhewen home to safety, stability, and community. Every dollar you give will go directly toward paying his bond and travel expenses getting him from San Antonio to Pittsburgh. Our goal is to not only get him home but also continue helping him get back on his feet—legally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
Zhewen has a long road ahead, but he’s not walking it alone. Would you consider partnering with us to bring him home?
Whether you can give or simply share this campaign, we’re so grateful. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than we can express.
With love and thanks,
