Operation Mayo’s Return – Bring Him Home!

Help us bring Uncle Mayo home. After years alone in California battling dementia, diabetes, and hardship, Mayo has finally been reconnected with his family in Indiana. Your support will cover court, travel, and guardianship costs so we can reunite him with loved ones and continue his care safely at home.

Uncle Mayo’s Story

Years ago, Mayo Scroggins Jr. moved to Sacramento, California, with the hope of building a new life. He married there, but after a divorce and hardship, he was left alone in a park by his ex-spouse. Thankfully, he was found and placed into a care facility, where he has lived ever since.

For the past two years, the State of California has been working to reconnect him with family. When we finally received that call, “Operation Mayo’s Return” went into full effect.

His Health

Mayo has cognitive impairment, dementia, diabetes, and hypertension. He needs constant support with medications, daily care, and personal needs. While staff at his current facility have helped, his greatest need is to be surrounded by family — something only possible if we can bring him home to Indiana.

⚖️ The Legal Journey

We are scheduled for a California Probate Court hearing on November 25th to finalize conservatorship.

Once conservatorship is granted, I will have the legal authority to move Uncle Mayo home.

After returning to Indiana, we will need to continue guardianship filings in Indiana to ensure his care, benefits, and medical needs remain fully protected.

✈️ What We Need Help With

To make this possible, I will need to:

1. Fly to California for the court hearing in November and return home.

2. Fly back again after conservatorship is granted to personally bring Mayo home to Indiana.

3. Cover travel, transportation, and moving expenses.

4. Pay for the additional Indiana legal filings once Mayo is safely home.

All funds raised will go directly to Mayo’s care and safe return home. If there are funds left after travel and court costs, they will be used for clothing, hygiene, and personal needs to help him settle back into family life.
