Help bring the Gainesville Giving Garden to life!

Hi, my name is Meg and I'm working to help bridge the gap between low-income families and fresh, organic produce by growing and distributing food to those in need.

Quality food shouldn’t be exclusive to a specific income bracket. I believe that eating local, choosing organic, and supporting sustainable is key to a better world -- One in which people and the environment are healthy, happy, and connected. Access to organic, fresh produce should be a right, not a privilege. So I've started on a journey to bridge the gap between low-income families and local quality food. The adventure begins with one acre of land, six chickens, a dedicated team, and the families we serve.

The Gainesville Giving Garden is starting small. In its first year, the farm will produce vegetables and eggs for 5-10 Gainesville families who have signed up for free bags of harvest. Families will receive food giveaways on a weekly basis. Bags will include produce that families have indicated as “preferred vegetables”, and recipe cards for veggies that may be new to their kitchens. The free produce will be distributed to families’ doors, as to remove transportation or time as hurdles in accessing fresh food.

The goal is to expand production in upcoming years. Over time,  the Gainesville Giving Garden aims to serve as many families in need as the land and labor will provide.

The Giving Garden is self-funded in year one, meaning we rely entirely on donations by those who believe in this cause.

100% of donations will go towards purchasing tools and materials for the first year of operations.
