Our family is reaching out for help during the most difficult time we’ve ever faced. Both our mom and dad, Ricardo Garcia, are diabetic and unwell, and Ricardo’s absence has made her care even more challenging. We are deeply worried about his health while he is detained. On the morning of September 4th, our dad, Ricardo Garcia, was detained by ICE in Costa Mesa, California. Despite surrendering peacefully, he was treated with unnecessary force, which left him injured and in pain. Since then, our home has felt empty and our lives have been turned upside down. Our mom misses her partner, and my sister and I feel lost without his guidance and support. Every day is a struggle, both emotionally and financially, as Ricardo was the head of our household and the person we all depended on.

Ricardo has lived in the U.S. for over 25 years, building a life for our family and contributing to the community through his work in carpentry, gardening, construction, and more. He is a family man, a friend to all, and someone who would move mountains for those he loves. He’s charismatic, dependable, and always willing to help others, whether it’s through his church or lending a hand to neighbors. His absence has left us distraught, unable to sleep, and worried about what the future holds.
