Hi, I’m Sachi. I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, and although I now live in the United States, my heart is still deeply rooted in my island home. I’m launching this fundraiser to support Sri Lanka in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.
Sri Lanka is currently facing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent years. Cyclone Ditwah has displaced over 200,000 people, leaving thousands of families without homes, safety, or access to basic necessities. According to recent reports:
• 209,000+ people have been displaced, and nearly 233,000 individuals are currently living in over 1,400 temporary shelters.
• More than 1.4 million people across 407,000 families have been affected by flooding, landslides, and infrastructure collapse.
• 410 people have tragically lost their lives, and over 330 remain missing.
• Homes, schools, roads, and water systems in multiple districts have been destroyed or severely damaged, cutting off entire communities from essential aid.
These numbers continue to rise as assessments come in.
What We Need to Do
The goal of this fundraiser is to provide essential relief to the most affected areas. Funds will go toward:
Critical Supplies
• Clean drinking water
• Dry rations, cooked meals
• Hygiene kits (soap, sanitary pads, diapers, disinfectants)
• First-aid items & essential medical supplies
Shelter & Safety
• Temporary tents & tarps
• Sleeping mats and blankets
• Support for families unable to return to their homes
Recovery Support
• Rebuilding basic structures
• Helping families replace essential items lost in the floods
• Providing assistance to those who have lost their income and stability
I will be traveling to Sri Lanka in three weeks and will personally coordinate the distribution of your donations, working with trusted volunteers, community leaders, and local relief groups. You will receive updates and transparency every step of the way.
How You Can Help
Your support — whether through donating or sharing this link — will make a real difference in getting urgent supplies to families who need help right now. Even a small contribution goes a long way in a crisis of this scale.
Thank you for standing with Sri Lanka during this critical moment.
