My name is Sukhwinder Kaur Dhaliwal, and I am the cousin sister of Rajpreet Singh Sidhu, lovingly known as Rommy. I am writing these words with a heavy heart, on behalf of a grieving family that is still struggling to accept an unimaginable loss.

Rajpreet was born on 7 October 2002 and was only 23 years old. He passed away due to severe pneumonia. He was diagnosed at Civic Hospital in Brampton, but by the time he was admitted, his condition had already become extremely critical. Despite all medical efforts, our family lost him far too soon. His sudden passing has shattered his parents and left a silence that can never be filled.

Rajpreet was the only child of his parents. Like countless parents who dream of a better future for their child, they sent him to Canada with hope, courage, and sacrifice. His father invested his entire life savings to support Rajpreet’s international education. When those savings were exhausted, he took on an education loan of nearly CAD 40,000, believing his son’s future would one day bring stability and happiness to the family.

Tragically, that future was taken away.

After Rajpreet’s passing, his body was sent back to India so he could be laid to rest in his homeland. The family has already borne approximately CAD 13,000 in expenses for this process. While that chapter has closed, another painful burden remains.

Today, Rajpreet’s father is left alone to face the crippling education debt taken for his son’s dreams — dreams that never had the chance to be fulfilled. With Rajpreet gone, there is no income, no support, and no way for him to repay this debt on his own. He is grieving the loss of his only son while carrying a financial burden that feels impossible to survive.

This fundraiser is being created solely to help Rajpreet’s father pay off the remaining international education debt, so that he is not crushed under loans taken out of love and hope for his child.
