Help Bring Our Bluegrass Mutant Vehicle, MaxMax, Back to the Playa!

Hey friends, Burners, and lovers of live music —

We’re reaching out with dusty hearts and calloused hands to ask for your help. Our beloved mutant vehicle, Max Max — the rolling stage that’s brought live bluegrass, laughter, and unforgettable views of the Man and Temple burns — is in desperate need of repairs if it’s going to make it home to the playa this year.

This magical machine has been a moving sanctuary for Burners to gather, dance, and connect during some of the most sacred and joyful moments of the week. But after years of dust, fire, and music, it’s hurting:

• It needs a full transmission swap — estimated at $2,600

• The carburetor is toast, choked up with too much playa dust

• The muffler and exhaust system literally fell off and needs a full replacement

Without these repairs, it simply won’t make it. We’ve put our own time, tools, and treasure into this art car year after year, but this year, we’re falling short — and we need our community to help carry it forward.

Every dollar you give goes straight to the rebuild. If we hit our goal, the bluegrass will roll again. The wheels will turn. The music will play. And you — or someone like you — will get to sit on top of this mutant vehicle, under desert stars, watching the Man or Temple burn with a soundtrack of twang and love.
