On the morning of November 10th, my fiancé, Oliver, 23, was picked up by ICE and taken to a detention center in Houston. He was unable to reach out until 4 days after his date of detainment and has since been moved to another detention center in Conroe.

Oliver arrived in the U.S. at the age of 16 in hopes of meeting his parents, whom he had not seen since the age of 3. Sadly, Oli was never able to establish a relationship with his parents and has had to independently support himself since the age of 16. Yet this moment in his life never brought him down or deterred him from achieving his goals. After high school, Oliver graduated from the firefighter academy at the top of his class! Although he knew he wouldn't be able to become a firefighter due to his immigration status, he got certified in hopes of being able to help others as soon as his immigration status was granted to him.

I have known Oli for 6 years, and I, as well as anybody who knows him, can attest to his good character and amazing heart. We were overly filled with joy due to the life we had built together, but with the blink of an eye, everything changed. We were engaged in July and planning to marry in December, but sadly, our plans had to change since his detention.

My fiancé is the breadwinner in our family, and I have been doing everything I can to maintain our household while he is away. Sadly, I am unable to take on the burden of all our bills and fees to pay his immigration attorney. I have used all of our savings to contract an immigration attorney, but sadly, it has not been enough. I am determined to fight this unlawful detainment and bring Oli home!
