My name is Eva, and I’m fundraising for my brother, Lukas, who was the victim of a violent and unprovoked assault in the United States.

A few days ago, my brother was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was suddenly attacked and severely beaten by a homeless individual. The assault left him with multiple facial fractures, including injuries to his jaw and nose. He required emergency surgery, and the police were involved, but the suspect fled before they could make an arrest.

My brother does not have medical insurance in the U.S., and the costs of emergency care, surgery, and the follow-up treatment he will need over the next several weeks are overwhelming. On top of that, he is unable to work, is in significant pain, and cannot safely care for himself on his own.

Our family is trying to bring him back home to Canada, where he can continue his recovery surrounded by loved ones and have access to the care he needs. Unfortunately, the expenses involved — medical bills, transportation, and ongoing treatment — are far greater than we can manage on our own.
