Hi, my name is Geo, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.
My husband, Alfredo Hinestroza, is from Maracaibo, Venezuela — a place he was forced to leave behind due to the violence, corruption, and dictatorship that have devastated his country. He came to the United States seeking safety, stability, and a better future for himself and his family, including his mother and sister.
We met while working together at a hotel in Phoenix, Arizona — he was a maintenance engineer, and I was the front desk supervisor. From the moment we met, we became inseparable. He has been my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the most loving father to our 10-month-old baby boy, Mathias Amado.
Unfortunately, our immigration journey has been filled with obstacles, fear, and financial strain. My husband’s immigration case began in Georgia, and for years he’s had to travel back and forth from different states for court appearances — each time carrying the weight of uncertainty, never knowing if he would return home or be detained by ICE agents.
Recently, after moving to Miami to raise our son near my family, my husband requested to transfer his case from Georgia to Florida. Instead of a simple transfer, Georgia authorities placed him under state arrest and forced him to wear a GPS ankle monitor, preventing him from returning home to us in Miami.
After a long and stressful week, he was finally allowed to come back — but had to keep the GPS monitor on. Once home, he returned to work right away, but when issues arose with the GPS device, he followed all instructions to report and fix it. Despite his full cooperation, the following day at the ICE office in Miami Lakes, he was detained. ICE agents took him into custody, transported him to the Miramar facility, and confiscated all his belongings.
Now, I am left here in Miami with our baby, uncertain of what will happen next — whether he will be detained for months, years, or face deportation back to the dangerous country he risked everything to escape.
The financial and emotional toll has been overwhelming. I am asking for help to cover:
• Immigration legal fees to obtain a lawyer and fight his case
• Daily living expenses for our baby and myself as I try to keep up with rent, food, and bills
• Travel and communication costs to stay in contact with my husband and advocate for him
My husband is a good man, a hard worker, a devoted husband, and a loving father. He deserves the chance to continue building the life he dreamed of — the life we’ve been working so hard to create for our little family.
I don’t like asking for help, but I’m doing this out of love and desperation — not just for myself, but for our baby boy, who deserves to grow up with his father by his side.
Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this story to help bring awareness and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read, care, and help us in this time of need.
With love and gratitude,
Geo, Mathias & Family
