My name is Kyle, and I am reaching out for help to bring my 16-year-old daughter Kyla home. Kyla is autistic and has been living in a group home because I recently served a year in jail. With no family to care for her, I had no choice but to give up temporary custody. Now that I have served my time and am working hard to rebuild our lives, I am doing everything I can to get us back together and start fresh.
Yesterday, when I visited Kyla at her group home, I was devastated to see her face covered in bruises—black, blue, and yellow. I learned that a staff member had slammed her to the ground, causing these injuries. I am desperate to get her out of that environment and bring her home to safety as quickly as possible. No parent should ever have to leave their child somewhere they don't feel safe, and that's what I had to do yesterday. I am asking for any help to secure a place for us to live so I can bring Kyla home where she belongs.
The funds raised will go toward a security deposit, first month's rent, and any additional rent needed to get us started. I also need to get Kyla a new bed, as hers was destroyed during the move, and buy her new clothes since she is growing so quickly. It would mean the world to both of us to be together again and out of this situation. When it was time to leave the visit, I asked Kyla if she felt safe, and she just grabbed me, buried her head in my chest, and cried. Her safety means everything to me, and I just want her home. Her birthday is March 27th, and it would mean so much if she could come home by then. Thank you all so much for your kindness and support.
