Last week our 8 month old son Ollie was admitted into Renown Children’s Hospital here in Tahoe where he spent 3 days fighting off Corona Virus, Rhinovirus, and Bronchiolitis. I am beyond relieved to say that he is now recovering back at home and is on the mend.

During our time at the hospital I saw first hand the pain and suffering of many children and their parents, too. It was a very eye opening and heart breaking experience. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about all of the sick babies and children there and I would like to try to help.

After being discharged as we walked down the halls we passed countless children lying in their hospital beds. Although I felt beyond grateful to be leaving there with my healthy baby, it still felt like we were leaving the rest of them all behind.

Little toddlers walked the hallway in hospital gowns with oxygen tanks being carried behind them and babies were quarantined in their cribs.

I’ve been unable to shake this urge to help. I reached out to the hospital to see how I could do so and I was told they are in need of items such as toys, art supplies, and books (just to name a few).

As I started to make a shopping list I thought to myself what if I threw this idea out to friends and family to see if anyone else felt called to help. I would then be able to purchase a lot more items and help that many more kids to feel comfortable and hopefully give them a smile during their stay.
