Isaiah 6:8 "And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
Hello! I'm Hannah Ruggles, and I'm thrilled to announce that I am going back on a missionary journey in October 2025 to Mesa Rica, Mexico with The Aloe Family. I need your help so that I can help other families.
What is The Aloe Family?
We are an organization dedicated to fostering empowerment, wellness, independence, and healing in resilient communities and individuals who are overcoming the challenges of poverty or the absence of family support. To learn more, click here .
Why 'The Aloe Family'?
That's an excellent question! Our name is inspired by the Aloe plant, which can grow in any environment and, with minimal assistance, can thrive, prosper, and blossom. This mirrors our mission: to assist communities in thriving, prospering, and blossoming with just a little support.
Why Mesa Rica?
Envision needing medical attention but lacking access to nearby urgent care, an emergency room, or a hospital. For many, this scenario is hard to fathom, as we are often just a short drive away from medical assistance. Yet, for numerous families in Mesa Rica, Mexico, this is the reality.
Mesa Rica, a small town near San Luis, is home to approximately 60 families. The community faces challenges due to limited access to food, employment, clean water, and healthcare. The closest health center, a basic facility offering services like bandaging and a limited range of medications, is over an hour and a half on foot for many. Due to the lack of modern medicine in the area, this community has relied on home remedies that have been passed down generation to generation. After talking with members of the community, it was found that these remedies were not helpful, but actually harmful. It is our mission to help build a health clinic within the community and help equip them with medication and medical solutions that are appropriate and helpful.
What is the mission?
✝️ Spread the Gospel of Jesus
Bring Healthcare to Mexico
As volunteers for the Aloe Family, we are dedicated to supporting the community leaders in Mesa Rica by providing equipment, additional medications, and updated basic life support training. We also invest in programs that empower local entrepreneurs, assist under-resourced children, and support young adults transitioning from orphan care, among others. Currently, we are renovating and expanding the health clinic to better serve the community and manage the increasing supply of donations.
Our volunteers have dedicated over a year to serving this specific community, and the local leaders are keen to learn and assume responsibility for the project, aiming for sustainability and a long-term strategy.
How many locations does the Aloe Family have?
The Aloe Family operates in two locations: one in Nashville, TN, and the other in San Luis, Mexico. Both areas have numerous needs that must be addressed.
How can I get involved with the Aloe Family?
Here is the link to The Aloe Family's donation page. For those who wish to support our efforts, this is the most effective method. Donations assist in paying staff, purchasing materials, supporting entrepreneurs, providing healthcare, and more.
How can I help, and where is my donation going?
Sending healthcare professionals to Mexico allows us to offer enhanced training, expanded knowledge, and superior equipment to the community. The mission requires a fee of $800, in addition to airfare costs. Any funds not utilized for the trip or airfare will be directly donated to the Aloe family to acquire medical supplies and additional equipment that will aid the mission.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and any donations are greatly appreciated!
