Help bring Haven back home

Story

Hi, my name is Catherine, and I’m the mother of a bright, kind, and resilient 13-year-old boy named Haven. Those of you who know me know that I have been fighting for custody of my son Haven. I’m asking for support to help cover legal fees so I can hire a lawyer to protect Haven and bring him back home where he belongs — with me and his two brothers who love and miss him deeply. Recently, Haven experienced serious physical abuse at the hands of his father — including being choked and punched as well as years of mental abuse and manipulation. DCFS stepped in and temporarily removed him from his father’s care, but sadly, the case was later marked “unfounded.” Despite that outcome, what Haven went through was very real, and no child should ever have to endure that kind of pain or fear. We now have a custody hearing approaching, and I’m doing everything in my power to make sure Haven is safe and surrounded by the love and support he needs to heal. He deserves a peaceful, stable home — and his two brothers are anxiously waiting for him to come back home where he’s loved, protected, and not afraid. I am fighting to be granted sole custody. But in order to do that, I need legal representation — and the costs are more than I can manage on my own.
