Aid for 2021 South of Haiti Earthquake Victims
On Saturday August 14th, 2021, the southwestern peninsula of Haiti was struck by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake which caused 2,000 deaths and counting. Thousands also became injured and lost their homes. About 2,500 homes were damaged and 3,000 more were destroyed in Arniquet. Just two days after the hurricane, the region was subject to a tropical storm which exacerbated the already weakened infrastructure, and poor living conditions. The Leon Dimanche Foundation is joining efforts with several Arniquet community-based associations by asking for donations to help bring healthy families back to their homes.

- About Leon Dimanche
Leon Dimanche was born in Arniquet, located in the outskirt of Les Cayes, a southwestern city of Haiti. In his early teens, Leon started to develop an affinity for music and singing. This was first discouraged by his family who dreamed of him being a medical doctor. The young Leon persevered in his musical career and soon became an iconic figure for his country. He wrote and sang love songs, many of which are about his love for Haiti, which have had lasting effects on the Haitian culture. Leon Dimanche adores his homeland, and dreams of a Haiti where his Haitian brothers and sisters can all lead peaceful, healthy, and prosperous lives.
