Bring Cesar Guerra Home to His Loved Ones
My name is Sally Greenberg and I'm creating this page to help our dear friend and longtime handyman and contractor, Cesar Guerra.
Earlier this month, while driving to a job in D.C.’s Petworth neighborhood, Cesar — a native of Guatemala who has lived and worked in the area for over 22 years and belongs to the Saint Gabriel Catholic Church — was detained by immigration officials. He was awaiting a green card. He’s now being held in a detention facility in Port Isabel, Texas, thousands of miles from his family.
Cesar is the heart of his family and a pillar in our community. He’s honest, kind, reliable, and deeply trusted — the kind of person you can always count on. For decades, he’s paid taxes, worked tirelessly, and devoted himself to giving his wife, 11-year-old stepdaughter, and 17-year-old son a better life.
Now, they’re heartbroken and struggling to get by without him. They’ve lost half their household income and are facing mounting legal costs to fight for his release.
We’re raising $20,000 to help cover attorney fees and daily living expenses for Cesar’s family as they fight to bring him home.
Any donation — or simply sharing this campaign — will help lift some of this incredible burden and remind Cesar’s family they’re not alone.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
