Help Brianna and her family Reunite with Journi 2024

Hi everyone it’s Dawanna here, I’m creating this Go fund me for Brianna and Journi to raise funds for a new attorney. We have one attorney Attorney Faulkner out of Houston Texas https://veldaforjustice.com  (https://veldaforjustice.com) who is willing to take the case if the current retained attorney Robin Forsythe doesn’t reach out to Dr. Candice Matthew’s who is willing to help with the case and investigate it intensely.

The funds will go in my personal  savings account and I will pay the chosen attorney directly since In the past negativity swarmed the case and more lies came about alleging Brianna didn’t pay an attorney. It’s sad we have to take these measures but I want to make sure my friend isn’t maliciously accused of any wrongdoing as long as this fight continues.

Backstory: Journi was removed from Brianna wrongfully in 2019 at Transforming lives Daycare Center in Arlington Texas.

Tarrant County received 19 false allegations of abuse. Journi had no bruising, and the only issue was that in the past in Dallas Texas Journi had meltdowns which caused bruising at the time intakes came in. Journi was safe with Brianna and showed no signs of fear, abuse or neglect. Dallas county CLOSED all of their open cases from May 2019- July 2019 which is when Brianna and Journi Baucum moved on to University of Texas at Arlington Campus.

Dr. Susanne Dakil in Dallas county was aware of the meltdowns Journi experienced and wanted Journi to continue play therapy which is what Brianna already had Journi in since 2018. Dallas county found no reason to believe Journi was ever abused.

Once Brianna and Journi moved to Tarrant county investigator Liliana Castillo went on a witch hunt. Journi was removed from daycare and taken into CPS custody August 2019.

CPS accused Brianna of making false allegations against her self When in reality they were aware they were made by Former classmate and neighbor Cynthia Barboza. CPS painted Brianna as a liar, used her past as a foster youth and Rape survivor against her and coached Journi in a forensic interview the day of removal to say she was spanked for wetting herself. Journi later said to the judge that , “CPS told her to say this”.

From 2019-2021 Brianna fault relentlessly winning a mistrial and gaining more visitation with Journi from February 2021 to July 2021, sadly however Brianna lost good representation that she retained and CPS took Brianna back to trial and terminated her rights.

During this case Brianna has been painted as a liar, a monster, and her previous go fund me was reported and taken down after Brianna’s rights were terminated. Brianna did not give up. She worked hard and hired Robin Forsythe and Sarah Ann Lishmman to help with her appeal and visitation after Termination. December 2021 Brianna lost her appeal in both 2nd court of appeals and the Supreme Court did not take her case. During her appeal Robin Forsythe tried entering visitation request for Brianna to modify the order of termination but Tarrant county silenced her allowing Brianna to lose all contact with Journi.

I have personally gone to protest, supported this family and told Brianna that she should have stayed in Killeen where Journi was happy and thriving. I know Brianna didn’t abuse Brianna and the trial wasn’t a fair trial. How is it that during the mistrial Brianna’s retained attorney was able to show how each witness lied on the stand, then when CPS takes Brianna to a new trial those same witnesses got away with lying on Brianna and painting her to be an angry, uncontrollable animal? I have witnessed it and I know it’s not right. Brianna did everything she was supposed to do as a mother. Journi was very blessed from birth until 5 years old to have Brianna in her life.

Brianna and Journi were failed by the state and by those around them. Yet, we still have hope that all this can and will be undone with the right advocacy and support.
