Hi Folks,
As many of you already know, I am a 7-year rare acute cerebellar hemorrhagic stroke survivor! My resulting disabilities include extreme balance issues, chronic fatigue, left-sided proprioception, permanent double vision, and vocal cord paralysis. I require daily assistance with ADLs, and I am fortunate to have a support team who provide care for my needs.
I am reaching out with gratitude and hope; after months of research and applications, I was awarded a grant to cover most of the cost of a piece of assistive technology that will make a life-changing difference for me! This device will aid me in achieving greater independence and accessibility in my daily life—something I’ve been striving for.
The grant generously covers $4,200 of the total expense, which is incredible. However, the full cost is $5,700, and I still need to raise the remaining $1,500 before I can receive the device.
Given your financial contribution, this last portion is the final step that will reward me with greater independence through access to technology that will help me—with known outcomes such as communicating more easily, participating in interactive cognitive rehabilitation programs, and managing daily tasks—and additionally provides me with the opportunity to experiment and achieve more unknown possibilities! Needless to say, I am very excited!
