My name is Brenda Hines, and I am raising funds for myself and my nephew, Michael Hicks. After spending two years in Chicago caring for a sick family member who passed away in 2024, I returned to Georgia in December 2025. The services and environment here are much more suitable for my nephew’s care, which is why we made the move back.
Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to helping others—working in Social Services and Criminal Justice, caring for family members, mentoring youth, and volunteering in my community. I have always believed in giving back and supporting those in need, whether it was through my career, volunteering, or simply being there for friends and family during difficult times.
Since returning to Georgia, I have faced significant challenges securing stable housing. Caring for a special needs individual comes with additional expenses, and I have spent a considerable amount on short-term accommodations like Airbnbs and hotels. For safety reasons, I often need to rent separate rooms, which has quickly depleted my savings. I am working hard to secure permanent housing by mid-April, but in the meantime, I need help to maintain our current living situation for a few more weeks. Any support you can offer would mean so much as we work toward stability and a safe home. Thank you for considering helping us during this challenging time.
