UPDATE OCT 16: It’s been awhile since I’ve given an update, so I would like everyone to know that although Bree is currently at home, she is still nowhere near in the clear.  Bree has been in and out of the hospital as she is experiencing excruciating pain in her lung and left shoulder. Doctors say she is experiencing heart attack symptoms from the strain the blood clot is putting on her heart and that is obviously extremely painful. Her blood clots haven’t disintegrated at all yet, which means blood flow to her lung has remained cut off, and the lung is continuing to die.  This makes breathing very difficult, never mind attempting to do any daily tasks.  Because of this, Bree is still unable to care for her three kids, so Keelan is having to stay home and that means no income. The support they have received so far has been amazing and truly heartwarming, but we can’t stop now! If anyone is able to help this family out it would mean the world to them.  For some perspective on how difficult life is for Bree right now, I was visiting them the other day and she is out of breath from just trying to speak. Please share and help if you can! ❤️

UPDATE SEPT 23 From Keelan: We are on day 15 of Bree having 3 blood clots in her heart/lung. Doctors were able to get her pain under control, she is extremely uncomfortable though as half her left lung is dead. Doctors said they have never seen a worse case before due to the area of the lung that was affected. It is the part of the lung with all the nerve endings which causes traumatizing amounts of pain and have had to consult with over 10 doctors from around Winnipeg. She had an emergency CT scan on Wednesday to detect a brain bleed. Her veins are slowly improving but it is still hard for her to use her arms. Doctors say she is looking at a long road to recovery and on top of all of this we just found out our baby husky Nova, only 3 years old developed a severe type of glaucoma overnight causing her to go completely blind in her right eye and due to all the pressure in her head they have to remove her eye immediately, the most devastating part is she will lose both her eyes within 2 years. Its been extremely hard news with everything we have going on right now. Nova is a huge part of our family and we just want to give her the best life possible, eyes or not! Please pray for Bree and Nova on their road to recovery.

UPDATE SEPT 17: Today is the first day that the doctors have said they finally feel they have everything under control.  Yesterday they were able to drain some fluid from around Bree’s lung.  She is still in tons of pain but that’s to be expected — it is still difficult for her to breathe but she is thankfully able to get some air in. Her right lung hurts from compensating for the left, as her left lung has not improved at all.  The blood clot is still blocking all the blood from getting to the left lung so it will continue to die until the blood clot disintegrates enough to restore blood flow.  When that happens, doctors are still unsure how much of her lung will be able to be restored to its previous function.  Bree is on a few antibiotics for her veins — she has 3 different veins infected and 5 are collapsed. She can barely move, never mind use her arms which has been tough for her. Swelling in her legs has improved today thankfully. However, with all the medication they are now worried about stomach ulcers and are giving medication to hopefully prevent them.
Once Bree is able to be discharged from the hospital, she will need daily injections of blood thinners for 6 months.  These injections will cost $1000 per month.

UPDATE SEPT 16: Bree had some tests done.  She has fluid around her left lung and it has now died halfway up.  This means she is relying solely on her right lung for oxygen and it unbearably painful when she breathes. She will have permanent damage to her left lung.  Unfortunately the medications have been collapsing her veins and she developed an infection in one of the IV sites.  Her arms are extremely sore, hard and swollen and it’s making it difficult to administer her medication.  With lack of movement the past couple days her legs are swelling and causing more complications. Doctors have a plan to try and improve her condition today so we will update as time goes on.

UPDATE: Since moving Bree to the ICU, it has been discovered that the bottom of her lung has died, causing permanent damage and making breathing nearly impossible.  The doctors have said with the lack of oxygen to her lungs, there is a high chance of her brain will bleed. Keelan will not be leaving Bree’s side.  He is asking now, more than ever, for your support. The last thing he needs to worry about is losing their home.  Please continue to share, and help if you are able!!

Hi, my name is Kara and I’ve created this fundraiser for my cousin and dear friend Breanne and her family. To know Bree is to love her. She has a heart of gold and is truly an amazing mother, fiancée, daughter, granddaughter, and friend. She deserves everything and more, so I am asking for your help.
Bree and her fiancé, Keelan, have faced some incredible hardships together and always manage to come out stronger. For those who don’t know, Bree gave birth to their third child on September 1st. After an agonizing 2.5 weeks of failed inductions and fear for the well-being of their baby, Bree delivered a beautiful, healthy, and strong baby girl. All was well — until it wasn’t. At just 8 days postpartum, Bree woke up with severe chest pain. She has since been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism (3 clots in the vein between the heart and lung to be exact). This is a very serious medical condition, and has a long and scary road to recovery ahead. Bree is a stay at home mom, and is now admitted to the hospital and away from her children. I’ve often said that Bree would walk through hell and back for her family, and that is exactly what she is doing. She is up against the fight of her life and Keelan has been beside her every step of the way. With Bree being a stay at home mom, Keelan is the sole income for their family, and has without hesitation missed an incredible amount of work to be there for Bree. With her being unable to return home, Keelan has to continue to miss work and this has become a huge financial stressor for them.
If you have anything to spare to help out this incredible family it would be greatly appreciated. The money will be used to cover their monthly expenses, care for their 3 children (Remington - 4, Radley - 1, and Riarsyn - 1 week old), travel costs as they live outside the city and a 45 minute highway drive to the hospital, and medical expenses once she is eventually able to return home.

Thank you.
