Help Brayden LaClair Get An Accessibility Van

Donation protected
About three years ago, my cousin Brayden was diagnosed at 6 years old (currently he is 9) with a rare disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. If you don’t know what this is, DMD is a genetic disorder characterized by the progressive loss of muscle. Duchenne affects 1 in every 3500-5000 boys, a few girls have it, but it is really rare. It can come from the mom or just be developed in the womb. My Aunt did not know she was a carrier to this illness until Brayden was diagnosed.

Here is a short note from my Aunt and Uncle: “Even with this horrible disease in our lives, we see God's blessings in everything we do or receive. Many tears have been shed, but we are trying to provide a positive and the best life we can for our son. He recently received a power wheelchair, which was fully covered by our insurance, because he has American Indian status. This is a miracle and does not usually happen.

We are now looking for an Accessibility Van or a source of transportation for his power chair and home modifications. Those modifications can be very costly. Insurance doesn't cover these items.

We cannot express the gratitude we have for all of the moral support and village we have created around us. We are truly blessed.”

My aunt and uncle are the most amazing, superhero parents I have ever met. Not many people would be able to take this news as strongly as they have, and they have adapted to the situation to try and make Brayden’s life as comfortable as it can be. Their strong faith in Christ is what has given them the strength to get through this.

Unfortunately, as many people know, medical costs are very high, especially when it comes to equipment such as wheelchairs and wheelchair vans. Fortunately, Brayden was able to recently receive a motorized wheelchair, but his parents need a van to eventually transport him from place to place. I am creating this GoFund me page in hopes of raising enough money to help them with costs towards a van. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated and would help further improve his life.

Thank you, and please continue to pray for Brayden, Jake, Katie and his little brother James as they navigate this new chapter in their life.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
