A heartfelt message from Cole Sommerville:

This morning around 4:00am, Brandon woke up to his house burning around him. He was able to make it out of a window to safety but not without 2nd and 3rd degree burns to approximately 28% of his body. He was taken to the local hospital and after being assessed, it was determined that it would be best for him to be flown to the Lubbock UMC burn unit for optimal care.

The only items Brandon was able to get before making it out of his home were his glasses and phone, that’s it. Everything he owns was lost in the fire. His entire house burned to the ground and the side of his truck was damaged significantly due to the heat.

Those who know Brandon know that he would never ask for help. In fact, he would probably be ok if no one ever knew that he was hurt or lost anything at all. Brandon is not only my best friend, but he is the also the ultimate “uncle”, friend, and son to his parents. Brandon it selfless, kind, caring, and sarcastic. Once you get through his goofy shell, you can see how he embraces a Godly character in how he lives his life and interacts with those around him.

Brandon is not someone who would ask for help, but he is in need of some right now. He could use the help of all of those around him. The next couple of months for Brandon will be very painful and difficult as he works to recover from his injuries. In addition mounting medical costs, he will also have the enormous task of replacing all of his clothes, furniture, household items, etc.
