Early this morning, my sister Brandi lost her home to a house fire. Thankfully, she and her two cats made it out safely, but the house is a total loss. The only thing she was able to grab on her way out was a bag of laundry by the door. Everything else—clothes, furniture, personal items, important documents, her ID and bank cards—are gone.

She will be staying with our mom while she gets back on her feet, but unfortunately she isn’t able to bring her cats with her. I’ll be taking them in, but losing the comfort of her pets on top of everything she owned has been extremely hard. Brandi has always been an animal lover, and her cats are her family. Not having them with her right now is heartbreaking.

She quite literally needs to start over—clothes, toiletries, daily essentials, household items, fees for replacing documents, everything.
