Bonnie McCoy and Marcus May are a couple living in Illinois who had a dream but life got in the way. Bonnie was born in a famous blues family that included; not only her guitarist father George McCoy, but also legendary blues pioneers Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. Bonnie grew up singing and has always wanted to be onstage sharing her music. Marcus was born in the projects of Centreville, Illinois and had a rough upbringing. However, through hard work and determination he was able to hold onto a job at the local steel mill for over, 37 years. All during that time he would compose songs and sing them aloud to his co-workers. He, too dreamt of being a star. Sadly, a tragic work accident crippled him and left him unable to work any longer. Their dreams were put on hold. Together, Bonnie and Marcus raised their children, singing and creating music for their families in spite of the hardships. But, owing to difficult circumstances, they ended up helping raise four of their eight grandchildren, as well. Their dreams were put on hold once again, because of her self-less nature, she didn’t think twice, she did what she felt in her heart was needed to do, regardless of clear challenges.

Last year, a musician friend of theirs, Tim Rose, came to help. He helped them put together 10 of their songs and hired musicians from around the world record their original music. It was his mission to see their music finally released to the world. But again tragedy struck. Bonnie was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease and is awaiting a life saving transplant. The album was put on hold for financial and health reasons. Through blessings and love a friend of the family came forth and offered Bonnie her kidney. The surgery is scheduled for the coming month of March.

Simply, we are starting this GoFundMe to cover the costs of any medical bills, due to her insurance paying only part, and also, for the recoding studio, to mix and master their music and to have enough to distribute and share their songs to the world. Bonnie and Marcus are two of the most loving, selfless and talented people we know. They have spent their life dedicated to helping others. Let’s return the blessing to them and help bring their dream to life!
