My name is Briony, and I am hoping you will consider helping my mother, Bonita (or Wendi as some know her). My mom has been a rock for me for a long time, and now I am hoping to help her in her time of need. From May 2024-November 2024, my mom was the caregiver to both my Nana and Uncle Buddy, her mother and only brother, while they both battled cancer and also caring for my nephew (her grandson). In November 2024, we sadly lost Nana and Uncle Buddy a day apart from each other.

As an Altadena, California native, my Mom relocated back to Altadena from Indianapolis after retiring in 2018, and was residing with my Nana and Uncle. It was devastating to receive the Facetime from my mother on January 7th, 2025 showing smoke coming from the other side of Altadena Drive. Fast-forward to a few hours later that my mother and nephew had to evacuate the home early the next morning as embers rained onto the area as the fire grew. Though Altadena is significantly unrecognizable in some ways, I am so thankful that they are okay, but our journey after the fire was just beginning, and since I live in Indianapolis, it has been especially difficult. Since that day in January, my mother and nephew have been unable to live in the home due to damage, and they have been staying in temporary housing until we are able to secure permanent housing for my mother and nephew which has been a challenge due to the devastation to the area.

In the fire they lost most of their clothing and other fabric goods like towels, blankets, mattresses and other essential items that were unable to be removed from the home. While we have been working to remove the items that we can from the home into storage, the cost has been very expensive to not only rent a truck for the transfer, but also for the storage unit. The storage unit is being used to house what is able to be salvaged until we find housing for her.

The funds raised will be given directly to my mom and will go towards storage and moving expenses, food and clothing, school, and housing expenses for both my mother and nephew.
