Title: Support Bobby Liberto’s Recovery and Reconstruction Journey After Tragic Bus Crash
Story:
On April 1st, 2025, a devastating school bus crash near Tucson, Arizona changed our lives forever. My son, Bobby Liberto, was one of the students on board. While we are so thankful he survived, the injuries he sustained have been life-altering.
Bobby lost four of his fingers in the crash, and he is currently undergoing reconstructive surgery on his thumb and elbow to restore as much function as possible. He has already gone through multiple surgeries and faces a long, challenging recovery—both physically and emotionally. The road ahead will require not only extensive medical treatment but also rehabilitation and long-term care.
Understanding the Financial Challenge:
The costs associated with reconstructive surgeries, prosthetics, rehabilitation, and long-term care are substantial, and insurance cannot cover all of these expenses. Here’s a breakdown of the anticipated costs:
• Reconstructive Surgery:
• Bobby’s surgeries to reconstruct his thumb and elbow are complex and require specialized medical attention. The cost for each surgery can range from $10,000 to $50,000, depending on the complexity and the need for follow-up procedures.
• Prosthetics and Adaptive Equipment:
• Prosthetics for Bobby’s hand and fingers can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $200,000 or more, depending on the type of prosthetic required. For more advanced, bionic, or microprocessor-controlled prosthetics, the cost can be on the higher end of this range.
• Ongoing adjustments, maintenance, and potential replacements for prosthetic devices add to the long-term financial burden.
• Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy:
• Bobby will require extensive rehabilitation to regain strength, mobility, and function in his hand and arm. Therapy can cost $50 to $350 per session, and he will need ongoing sessions over a period of months or even years.
• Long-Term Care and Support:
• Bobby will require continuous long-term care, including follow-up medical appointments, physical therapy, psychological counseling for trauma recovery, and adaptive equipment for daily living.
• Home modifications may also be necessary to accommodate his recovery.
Our Commitment:
Every dollar raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be dedicated exclusively to Bobby’s recovery and medical needs. This is Bobby’s personal fund, and the money is held in a dedicated trust account set up specifically for his care and recovery. Nothing will be used for anything outside of Bobby’s healing process.
As a single mother, I’ve temporarily relocated to Tucson to be by Bobby’s side throughout this journey. The financial burden is overwhelming, and we cannot navigate this alone.
