Help Bobbee and his journey with Stage 4 Lung Cancer
Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is David, and I’ve launched this fundraiser in support of my dear friend, Bobbee. I’ve known Bobbee for almost 20 years, and he is more than a friend—he is like a brother.
We have shared countless holidays, laughs, and tough times together. When Jessica entered his life, she became my family too. I had the honour of being one of Bobbee’s groomsmen at their wedding and I plan to stand by their side during these tough times. What I have learnt from being around them so often is that Bobbee and Jessica are the kind of people who make everyone feel valued and cared for, always extending kindness and generosity despite their own challenges.
A Life-Changing Diagnosis
In November 2024, Bobbee received news no one ever expects to hear: Stage 4 Lung Cancer (ROS-1), a rare and aggressive form that affects only 1–2% of lung cancer patients, primarily non-smokers. By the time it was discovered, the cancer had already spread to his lungs, neck lymph nodes, and bones.
During his four-week hospital stay, Bobbee endured life-threatening complications and multiple surgeries. Some days were so critical that his medical team feared he wouldn’t make it out of the hospital. But against all odds, Bobbee fought his way back home, showing remarkable strength and resilience.
Who They Are
If you know Bobbee, you know he’s the guy who brightens a room with his goofy jokes and genuine warmth. He’s the friend who brings people together, the one who will always try to put a smile on your face. He’s the dad who dreams of teaching his sons life lessons and the husband who holds his wife in the highest regard. Even now, in the face of this devastating diagnosis, Bobbee remains true to himself—fighting, smiling, and bringing joy to those around him, even in the hardest moments.
Jessica, now in the final stages of pregnancy, carries an immense weight on her shoulders. She is caring for Bobbee, raising their toddler, preparing for their new baby, and navigating the emotional and physical toll this journey has placed on their family. Her strength and grace are extraordinary, but no one should have to endure what she has to.
The Challenges They Face
Even before Bobbee’s diagnosis, the family was already facing challenges. Their humble home, located on a busy main road, requires significant repairs—many of which they had been tackling themselves. However, with Bobbee’s income coming to a close and his future career uncertain, along with medical bills and Jessica juggling pregnancy, childcare, and caregiving; the financial burden has become overwhelming.
They never planned for where they are currently staying to be their forever home, but now, with their circumstances changed, they will have to make it a safe and comfortable place for their growing family.
Your Generosity and Support Will Help With:
● Creating a safe parking area for caregivers
● Fixing drainage issues to prevent flooding
● Returfing the backyard to provide a secure play area for their children
● Repairing their sleepout/granny flat for additional space and functionality
● Future accessibility upgrades, such as wheelchair ramps, as Bobbee’s condition progresses
These essential improvements will provide Bobbee and his family with a safer and more comfortable home. Any remaining funds will go towards their day-to-day needs/overheads and help them create lasting memories together.
Time Is Precious
Bobbee’s cancer cannot be cured—only managed. He has completed one round of chemotherapy and is now on targeted treatment, buying him more time. However, his oncologist has explained that once this treatment stops working, his health will decline rapidly.
One of the hardest things he has had to do is create a bucket list for his family, grappling with the reality that time is no longer guaranteed. Bobbee’s biggest wish is to create memories, know that his family is safe and that their home is complete.
How You Can Help
I didn’t know what financial target/goal to set but this is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a chance to give Bobbee peace of mind and surround his family with love and security with the time they have left together.
● Donate – No amount is too small or too big. Every contribution will help their home situation and help them create memories
● Share – Spreading the word is everything. The more people who hear Bobbee’s story, the more help we can give
● Offer Support – Whether it’s emotional encouragement, meals, or skilled labour, every act of kindness makes a difference
Bobbee has spent his life lifting others up. Now, it’s our turn to lift him.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this journey. Your kindness will leave an impact far beyond what words can express.
With heartfelt gratitude,
David
