My name is Adam, and two years ago, I met Bob while volunteering abroad in Uganda. Recently, Bob reached out to me with a dream that is practical and deeply hopeful: to begin a small poultry farm that can help support his family, provide income for school fees, and eventually create work experience for local youth in his community.
Bob lives with his wife, Alice Lakot, and their five children in Agago District in Northern Uganda, a region still recovering from the long-term effects of war and poverty. Their eldest child is currently in seminary, studying with the hope of becoming a Catholic priest. Bob and Alice are both orphans, and like many families in rural Uganda, they have worked hard to build stability with limited resources.
Their goal is not simply to receive short-term help. Their goal is to build something sustainable.
Bob hopes to start a small-scale poultry project with laying hens. With the right startup support, the family can build a secure chicken house, purchase healthy chicks, provide feed and clean water, vaccinate the birds, and buy basic equipment such as feeders, drinkers, and egg trays. Once the hens begin laying, the eggs can provide ongoing income for food, school fees, and the growth of the farm.
This fundraiser will help cover:
- Building a secure poultry house
- Purchasing approximately 100 laying chicks
- Feed until the chickens reach laying age
- Vaccinations and basic veterinary care
- Feeders, drinkers, lighting, and egg trays
- Transport, transfer fees, and emergency contingency
I am personally organizing this fundraiser on Bob’s behalf because GoFundMe does not currently send funds directly to Uganda. I will withdraw the funds, transfer them to Bob through a secure international transfer method, and share updates, photos, receipts when available, and progress reports with donors!
This project is about more than chickens. It is about helping a family move toward self-reliance and dignity. Even a small gift can help build something that continues producing long after the donation is made!
Thank you for helping Bob, Alice, and their children take this next step toward a more stable future!
