Dear Friends, Colleagues, and fellow Humanitarians,

I am reaching out to you on behalf of my friend Blu, whose journey has been marked by resilience and hope in the face of overwhelming challenges. Blu entered the New York State prison system at just 15 years old and spent over 15 years there. During his time, he dedicated himself to education—not only for his own growth but also to help others around him. After completing his sentence, Blu was unexpectedly deported to Peru, his country of birth, despite his efforts to challenge this decision. Arriving in a place he barely knew, he worked tirelessly to build a new life, eventually marrying and becoming a father to a beautiful daughter, now four years old.

Blu became the sole provider for his family, working long hours to ensure their well-being. Unfortunately, his wife refused to contribute financially and, after ongoing struggles, left him and took their daughter—the center of his world. With no family, friends, or support system in Peru, Blu found himself alone, jobless, and facing an uncertain future. Despite these hardships, he remains determined to create a better life for himself and his daughter. He has made the difficult decision to leave Peru with only the clothes on his back, seeking a fresh start and the chance to support and reunite with his child.

Your support will help Blu cover essential needs like food, a place to stay, and transportation as he navigates this transition. He has a three-month visa and plans to enroll in college to extend his stay, all while working toward stability and the hope of being with his daughter again. I am doing everything I can to help, but Blu needs a community behind him.
