My name is Blare, and I’m reaching out because I’ve been through something I never imagined: on July 15, 2024, I was shot in the chest. Since then, I’ve struggled to get the support I need. The hospital patched me up, but after that, I was left to fend for myself. Instead of real help, I was accused of things that weren’t true and pushed into services that didn’t address what actually happened. Even though there’s an identified suspect, there’s been no investigation, and I’m still living in the same area where I was shot, with the person responsible still around.

It’s been a year now, and I’m basically just surviving in a moldy car, trying to piece my life back together. I’ve had to do my own investigations and track down my own medical needs, all while dealing with the trauma and fear of being so close to the person who hurt me. My health and safety are at risk every day, and it’s exhausting to keep going without any real support. I can’t drive or take the bus right now, both physically and financially, and I don’t have reliable phone service to stay in contact with people or get help when I need it. I’ve even been scared to contact EMTs for help because of past unprofessional behavior, and the only way I’ve been able to reach out is by texting with VOIP over distant wifi, which often drops calls. This means it can take weeks or months to get the care or follow-up I need.

I have OHP, so some of my medical care is covered, but what I really need is safe housing, reliable transportation, phone service, and a stable space where I can start to heal and work on moving forward. I may also need to hire a private investigator to get any progress on my case, since nothing has happened despite knowing who did this.
