Help Blake Recover After Life-Threatening Medical Emergency

Blake suffered a seizure and stopped breathing on July 29, leaving him in a coma and fighting for his life. By God’s grace, he survived, but he faces a long recovery, unsafe living conditions, and financial challenges as he heals. Any support helps ease the burden on Blake and his fiancée, Sarah, during this difficult time.

Hello, I’m Blake’s mom.

After much prayer, I felt led to create this GoFundMe for my son. I want to begin by thanking every single one of you — for the calls, the love, and especially the prayers. We have felt them from Blake’s childhood friends, new friends, and even strangers. Our family truly appreciates every single person standing with us during this time.

On July 29, at 4 AM, I received the phone call no mother ever wants to get — my son had stopped breathing. I rushed to Los Angeles and spent seven days in a motel with my sister and her husband, while Blake’s sister and her children also came to be by his side. These last days have been some of the hardest of our lives. Watching your child in a coma, unable to move, is something I would never wish on anyone.

Blake suffered a seizure and stopped breathing. The doctors had only two minutes to get a tube down his throat to save his life. During that time, Blake had an out-of-body experience — one he will share in his own words when he’s ready. What I can tell you is this: there is a heaven, there is a hell, and God spared my son’s life.

The doctors have advised Blake to rest and take it easy. He will need follow-up care as his kidneys are not yet functioning where they need to be, but we are believing they will fully recover.

On top of his medical battle, Blake’s current apartment has severe mold issues that the complex has refused to address. This has already caused him to suffer a severe asthma attack, making it unsafe for him to return there as he heals.

His grandmother, Sharon Harrington, has been such a blessing, especially after losing her husband so recently. She has stepped in to help in so many ways. And his fiancée, Sarah, has also been by his side through all of this. As you know, when you take time off work, you lose income. Our hope is to take some of the financial pressure off of Blake and Sarah during this difficult season so they can focus on his healing.

I am not asking for thousands — even $10 makes a difference and is deeply appreciated. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for loving my son and for helping us through this incredibly difficult journey. God is good. We give him all the praise
